St. Francis-La Cañada – April 17, 2016 – The Jackrabbits went to St. Francis-La Cañada on Tuesday and beat a CIF team for the first time in regular season 9-2.

With the Jackrabbit offense opening the game controlling the ball, and after a few open shots, freshman Devin Koval led the attack in the first two minutes with a feed to junior Jordan Parce for a goal.

Just a minute and a half later, Parce took a Golden Knight one-on-one and scored his second goal.

Then, junior goalie Tyler Lansdell cleared a deep pass to the midfield, picked up by Koval, burning past the defense for a goal.

Just before the end of the half, the St. Francis offense slipped a feed from behind the net to the crease for their first score. Senior co-captain midfielder Jessi Avila responded by making a hard double dodge and fired but hit the pipe.

At the beginning of the second half, Koval dodged from behind the net and found on the crease sophomore attackman Abraham Vargas, who put it away for the Jackrabbits’ fourth goal.

St. Francis answered with a feed from up top to an open man on the crease for their second goal. But the Jackrabbit defense, led by senior Anthony Barron, went on to held the Golden Knights.

In the third quarter, Koval found Parce again on a perfectly executed pick and roll.

Then senior midfielder Anthony Taoipu slides to a St. Francis shooter, causing a ground ball turnover and launches the ball over the midline to freshman attackman Logan Kenny. After a loose ball fight, Parce picks up a ground ball for a fastbreak feed to Kenny for another assisted goal for the Jackrabbits.

To close out the game, freshman Sam Hershewe clears a pass over midline and hits Taoipu, who makes a strong double move for an unassisted goal.
