April 9, 2016 – Los Alamitos, CA – With new head coach Leah Rich, the Poly Girls Lacrosse Team has won their last two games against Vista HS (8-3) and Los Alamitos JV2 (8-7).

Earlier in the season, an experienced Los Al JV2 team came to Poly and won 11-2. On Saturday, the Jackrabbits went to Los Al to compete.

Los Al opened the game with the first goal, but freshmen co-captain Bailey Johnson answered quickly with a drive and goal. The teams traded goals throughout the game, with points from sophomore co-captain Alison Waddles (2Gs) and Bailey Johnson (4Gs), and defensive help from sophomore Megan Recinos, stopping two key fastbreaks to keep the Jackrabbits in the game. Big saves from goaltender Adrianna Torres (7 Saves, 50%) held the Griffins to 7 points, allowing the Jackrabbits to run out the clock and seal the win 8-7.

“Our girls hustled hard. Despite the odds, we have won our past two games and intend to keep it up. We have a strong core group, and if built upon, this team will be championship contenders,” says Coach Rich.

In the previous week versus Vista HS, Poly girls lacrosse won 8-3 after tying Vista earlier in the season. Goals came from Bailey Johnson (4 Gs), Alison Waddles (2 Gs) and senior Jazzmon Frost (1 G).

On Saturday April 16, the girls head to Vista HS for a multi-game festival against Pasadena Tribe, West LA Club, and Vista HS.
