Poly Boys Lacrosse Team Beats Don Bosco Tech 11-1
April 6, 2016 – Rosemead, CA – Bouncing back after a disappointing loss to Canyon HS, the Poly Boys Lacrosse Team handled Don Bosco Tech 11-1.
Poly came out the gates shooting and tallied the first goal from freshman attackman Devin Koval off of a fastbreak feed from senior co-captain Jessi Avila. From that point on, the goals kept coming from the Poly side, with six different scorers: Devin Koval (3Gs, 1A), junior Jordan Parce (2Gs), sophomore Abraham Vargas (2Gs, 1A), Jessi Avila (2Gs, 1A). Six goals came assisted, including two assists from freshman attackman Brett Navarro.
Overall, Poly dominated on the ground on loose balls and faceoffs, with freshman Sam Hershewe winning over 90% faceoff possessions.
Goalie Tyler Lansdell was 100% on saves, with the only Don Bosco goal coming from an accidental tip off of Poly senior defenseman Anthony Barron’s stick.
“This win is a measure of achievement and growth,” says Coach Song. The last time the Jackrabbits saw the Don Bosco Tigers was at the Poly Pre-season Shootout. Poly lost to the Tigers in the first round 7-6, and then saw them in the tournament championships, losing 5-0.
The Boys will face St. Francis-La Cañada next on April 12 at St. Francis 5:00p.
